Zonos and Canada Post

Zonos and Canada Post

Prepay U.S. duties and keep your Canada Post shipments moving.

As of August 29, all postal shipments valued under $800 USD entering the U.S. must have duties prepaid.

To support this change, Canada Post has partnered with Zonos to provide two compliant shipping solutions:

Zonos Prepay app

For individuals and small businesses who ship occasionally

The Zonos Prepay app allows you to calculate and pay U.S. duties before visiting the post office. It generates a Declaration ID required to ship.

Key features:

  • AI-powered duty calculation using item photos
  • Pay in local currency with local payment methods
  • Generate Declaration IDs and QR codes for the counter
  • Available in 18 languages
  • Free to use — no account or monthly fee

Verified Accounts

For merchants and businesses who ship regularly

Verified Accounts automate duty collection and remittance, making it easy to stay compliant with no manual work.

With a Verified Account:

  • Every shipment includes a Declaration ID
  • Shipping labels print without delays
  • Duties are calculated, invoiced, and paid directly to CBP
  • View real-time reports and shipment-level breakdowns
  • Use classification and landed cost tools in the Zonos Dashboard
  • No subscription fee — only pay duties and postal fees

To continue shipping to the U.S. with Canada Post, choose the solution that fits your business. Both options ensure your shipments meet U.S. requirements and clear without delays.
