Upload the customs paperwork your shipments need and attach it to your products, so it follows them onto every order and shipment.
Beyond U.S. government agency screening, some postal shipments need supporting paperwork to clear customs or to claim a benefit—like a certificate of origin for a trade agreement, or a Section 232 certificate for steel and aluminum. Upload these documents once and attach them to the products, orders, or shipments they apply to. Attach a document to a product and it automatically follows that product onto future orders and shipments, so you aren't re-uploading the same paperwork every time.
You provide supporting documents only when they apply to your goods—not for every item or postal shipment. Where a U.S. government agency requirement is flagged for you and enforced at the border, a supporting document is something you choose to attach to claim a benefit or meet a specific need.
When you upload a compliance document, Zonos attaches it to your products and shipments and uses it for customs clearance. You are responsible for making sure every document you upload is genuine, accurate, current, and valid for the claim it supports — uploading a document is an attestation that it is correct.
Zonos honors the documents you provide, but a document that is invalid, incorrect, expired, or that doesn't match the goods or the claim you're making won't hold up — and can lead to clearance delays, duty and tax adjustments, penalties, or a rejected claim at the border. For example, a certificate of origin that doesn't actually qualify under the free trade agreement you're claiming will fail at customs regardless of whether it's on file with Zonos.
Zonos validates the documents you upload. A document that backs a specific claim — like a certificate of origin for a free trade agreement — is verified against that claim. Validation helps you catch problems before a shipment moves, but it does not change your responsibility for the accuracy and validity of what you upload.
Certificate of origin — a preferential certificate claiming a free trade agreement.
Country of origin certificate — confirms where a product was made.
Section 232 certificates — country of smelt, country of cast, country of melt and pour, and country of pour certificates for steel and aluminum products. There is no official government form for these, so Zonos accepts your own certificate for the required information.
Material certificate and mill test certificate — document a product's material makeup.
Power of attorney — authorizes your customs broker to act on your behalf.
Other — any supporting document that does not fit the categories above.

Attach a document from your catalog—to one or many products at once—or from a single product's detail page.
From your catalog
Attach a document to one or many products in a single step.
Open your catalog. Log in to Dashboard, then under Products in the left navigation select Catalog.
Select products and start an upload. Check the box next to each product the document applies to, then select Upload document in the top-right toolbar.
Fill in the document details. Keep Upload new selected and choose the file to upload (or switch to Use existing to attach an existing document). Choose the Document type, set the type-specific field that appears—the Composition attribute for an origin or composition certificate, or the trade agreement for a preferential certificate of origin—then optionally add a Filing reference number, an Expires at date, and the Ship from and Ship to countries. Confirm the products under Associations and select Upload.
Confirm the association. Each associated product now shows a count in the Documents column of your catalog—hover the count to see the document type.
From a product page
You can also manage a product's documents from its detail page. Open a product, scroll to the Compliance documents section, and select Upload document. Documents you add here are attached to that product.
Select Compliance documents under Products to see every document you have uploaded, with its type, how many products it is associated with, its expiration, and upload date.
Manage associations
Open a document's menu and choose Manage associations to add or remove the products, orders, or shipments it applies to. Removing an association detaches the document from that item — it does not delete the document. A document with no associations becomes an organization-level document that applies across all shipments.
Preview a document
Hover a document's file name to preview it inline; images and PDFs render right in Dashboard, so you can confirm you uploaded the right file without downloading it.
Expiration and deletion
A document past its expiration date stops surfacing for its associated goods automatically, so expired paperwork is never used for clearance. Upload a replacement to keep coverage current.
Delete removes the document entirely, including all of its associations. Detaching a single association leaves the document in your library.
Yes. Zonos validates the documents you upload, and a document that backs a specific claim like a free trade agreement is verified against that claim. Validation helps you catch problems early, but you're still responsible for making sure each document is genuine, accurate, and valid for the claim it supports—an invalid, incorrect, or expired document won't hold up at the border regardless of whether it's on file. See Document accuracy and validation.
Can I upload Section 232 (country of smelt/cast) certificates?
Yes. There is no official government form for country of smelt, cast, melt and pour, or pour, so Zonos accepts your own certificate providing that information. Upload it and attach it to the affected steel or aluminum products.
Can one document cover multiple products?
Yes. Attach the same document to as many products as you like, and reuse an existing document instead of uploading duplicates. A document attached to a SKU or product ID also follows that product onto future orders and shipments automatically.
