Important notes

Label printing: You must print labels in the Zonos Dashboard. Zonos needs to control this process to ensure the correct amounts are applied to commercial invoices and related documentation.

Market settings: Since Zonos guarantees the landed cost, if you update your market settings to a different rate than what Zonos provided, we will deactivate inclusive pricing for that country.

Rate updates: Zonos recalibrates market rates as often as needed, potentially daily as new stores sign on or as world events dictate. At minimum, recalibration occurs weekly to ensure pricing remains accurate with respect to duty, tax, and currency fluctuations.

Frequently asked questions

Where does Zonos offer inclusive pricing?

Currently, we offer this service to: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, United Arab Emirates, and United Kingdom.

We plan to extend this to the following countries as more data becomes available: Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

How do discounts work for inclusive pricing in Shopify Markets?

Inclusive pricing allows discounts to be applied at checkout. Discounts are applied to the item, duty, and tax portions of the inclusive price. Fees, which are typically fixed amounts, cannot be discounted and will always be billed in full.

Shopify Plus: When a discount is applied, the shopper's cart is automatically recalculated to reflect the discounted duties and taxes in their total, providing full discount visibility to the shopper.

Shopify Basic and Advanced: Third-party apps like Zonos cannot control the checkout process on these plans, which limits our ability to recalculate discounted duties and taxes in the shopper's cart.

Billing: Due to Shopify limitations, merchants will be billed the standard Landed Cost Guarantee fee on the pre-discounted amount of duties, taxes, and fees, even when shoppers receive a discount on these amounts.

Does Zonos assume that all orders will be over the de minimis?

Yes. In order to properly calculate an inclusive price for products, this must be assumed. We also expect that most countries will soon waive de minimis provisions altogether.

If the majority or all of your products are under the de minimis value and duty will not be due, we recommend just enabling tax inclusive pricing in this market.

When an order is canceled, will Zonos refund the entire amount?

Yes. The full amount will be refunded to the customer, and the merchant will be refunded Zonos fees minus the payment processing fees (merchant fees).

Is inclusive pricing available for Zonos Checkout customers?

For now, inclusive pricing is only available to Shopify Zonos app customers. We expect to offer this to our Checkout customers in the near future.

Does this require the latest Shopify Markets API?

We built Inclusive Pricing on Shopify's latest Markets API. It will run on older Markets versions in compatibility mode, but for best performance, feature coverage, and fewer edge cases, we recommend upgrading your Shopify Markets setup to the latest version before enabling Inclusive Pricing.

What about Shopify plan limitations?

Lower versions (Grow) of Shopify plans are limited to 50 markets (50 countries for inclusive pricing). Lower versions (Grow) of Shopify plans also don't have full market functionality.
